Wine School
Coming soon! We will be offering wine education in conjunction with Bernard's and Sarah's Wine Bar.
Meet Our Instructor Danielle Botros, our wine school instructor, has enjoyed 13 very successful years in the wine industry. She currently holds the position of Northeast Wine Educator for Majestic Fine Wines, one of the top privately-owned companies in the industry and with over 35 wineries, both domestic and international in its portfolio. She is now responsible for training and education of distributor reps in the Northeast from Boston to D.C. as well as conducting seminars/tastings to the trade. In her current position and over the years, Danielle has honed her skills in public speaking as well as her ability to teach about wine in a fun, unpretentious way. She has gained much expertise in the wine world and cultivated some wonderful relationships in the food and wine industry. Her credentials include Certified Sommelier, Certified Wine Educator and Certified Wine Specialist.
Intro Class: The Basics of Wine Join us for an exploration of the world of wine. This introduction class will review the essentials of evaluating the unique character of wine, tools to describe wine and a comparison of the most popular varieties of today. We will taste and evaluate 8 wines looking at the role of climate, soil and history. Cost $50 (includes 8 wines) Dates: TBA
Focus on France Join us as we discover the depth and breadth of all that France has to offer in the world of wine. We will learn why France is regarded globally as the benchmark of quality to which all other wine-producing countries aspire. We will discuss and taste through the most important regions and the corresponding "noble" varietals and learn how most of the grapes we know and love today originated from this historic country. Cost: $75 (includes 8 wines and Bernard's small bites) Date: TBA
Focus on Italy This class confirms why Americans love Italian wines! For many years, Italy has wrestled with France in it's distinction as the largest exporter of wine to the United States. In this class, we will discover how, in the past two to three decades, Italy has made unparalleled strides in the world of wine. We will taste through 9 of the most popular and interesting Italian white and red wines and learn why this progressive country is so special. Cost: $75 (includes 9 wines and Bernard's small bites) Date: TBA
Food and Wine Pairing This class explores some helpful, basic tips on food and wine pairing. We will learn some general guidelines and the reason why certain pairings work and don't work but also discover how there's a lot of room to "play". This fun and informative class will give you more confidence to trust your instincts when entertaining or choosing from wine lists. Wine and food are meant to complement each other. In this class, we'll see how to "amp up" your tasting experiences! Cost: $85 (6 wines, heavy hors'd oeuvres by Bernard) Date: TBA
Graduation Wine Dinner We will put you to the test with the blind wine tasting table, where you will have to guess the wine variety and the country it came from (these blind wines will be chosen from a previous class) anyone who is able to get 100% of the wines earns a free dinner. After you have finished your blind wine exam we will sit down for a wonderful dinner prepared by Bernard. To match with the 5 courses we will pair 5 wines of "lesser known" varietals from around the world (i.e. Gruner Veltliner, Mourvedre, Primitvo), we will discuss these wines and where they originated. Please feel free to invite spouses, friends and family to your Graduation. Cost: TBA
